The Bird Series:

Richards Bird series came about through experimentation with recent formulations in Colored Pencil. After studying several subjects, he decided to attempt one of the small finches he sees everyday off his studio deck. Using Prismacolor pencils and Canson's paper 12x12” along with a few other tricks and tools, the yellow finch emerged. Subsequently, several others followed culminating in the showpiece of the series the “Swallows”
